Last year we had lots of cacky bands. Why break with tradition lets get more.
With the utmost respect to someof your mates bands, make sure that they know the difference between being in a band and being in a good band. We could form a band out of any of us and go and play and we would be terrible. A good band can pull a good gig out of adversity, play the same song at the same time as each other, entertain a crowd, not look accussinly at a sound man when they break a guitar string and spend all night playing cover songs on their cheap guitars.
I toying with the idea of getting some quality bands. That should make me happy.
But then again the batle of the bands was our biggest draw last year. We should do that again but it'll mean more rubbish bands a la last year. And before anyone says anything about the Devil Makes Three, they were the best band on the night. Alll the judges agreed with that. It was just that I don't tink we could have got away with them playing Trash Metal in the Mckinstry Wallace hall for another night.
Keep the ideas brewing, only 20 hours to the meeting.

yes UXO were crap.....but they clearly got better, cus they r playin gigs in belfast, bangor, like every weekend now. I was out wit Adam the otehr week and sum random girl came up and asked hims he the lead singer from UXO, cus she saw him play in belfast. Have you heard of any of the ohter bands playin newhere else?? nope?? and so wot if they dont have a bass guitar, lol break from the trend, dont b a boring standard crappy band wit two guitars/ one guitar and bass and drums. how boring.

Lets get some things straight here. Getting a gig in Belfast isn' hard. there are a few venues who still give young bands a chance and this is good why? because it helps them improve. Aha, well thats what you would think, but instead the music business in Northern Ireland is driven by doing the excact opposite. It's get them to play and then slag the hell out of them. Kinda like what I was doing a few posts ago, and I am ashamed of myself. UXO weren't crap actually, I thought they had potential, the singer wasn't great but he performed with gusto and had a certain charm about him. ( These were the guys with the afro drummer, right?) well assuming that they are, they could play their instruments kind of together, they made they cheapo guitars sound ok and they were a bit of fun. Would I have them back...... I don't know, but they certainly weren't the worst. They didn't come last for example in the Battle of the Bands. I think that must have been Graeme's mates.
If your friends wan to play get me a tape or something and if it's alright then they can have a go, but what I can't stand is bands who don't know thei place. Their is a Hierarchy, for example a few years ago when a band whose name I've forgot played, they mentioned Element about five times during their own set and said about how great they were, and rightly so, cause Element were better than those guys. They weren't jealous but instead pleased that they were playing at the same event. Thats all I want, bands to be pleasd that they are playing and not to start giving off attitude about how great they are when all they've done is play a school talent show. Bands need to learn and they only can by being prepared to.
That was quite a rant, but perhaps you might be a little clearer where I'm coming from.

Yeah i agree, i mean UXO wernt great, at all, but they made everyone laf, so i s'pose ther was potential, n yeh i agree, bands shud jus b happy that they get to show ther songs and share ther music with everyone else, because that is wot bands do, most bands think ther amazon, wen ther not tht gd at all, like the devil makes three haha. but btc is a great oppurtunity to get a teenage(smallish) fanbasse, and i know tht most people tell the mates bout good bands that play there, i mean.....i dnt think thers one of my mates tht i havnt told that i luv the debonaires! ;D
