So Craig decided to make himself an admin by hacking a former admin's account. He has just PM'd me asking to be made an admin after I kindly de-admined him and gave him a new title! So what do you think folks?

Unfortunately not. Feel free to carry out the last one in your own time though!

Isn't there a "leave him to me...." option?
P.S. Why don't I get to be an admin?...

My dear friends and fellow forummers, As many of you know, I am not, in fact, a morris dancer. I am, as it so happens, a very gifted belly dancer. So, for starters, I would gladly request that this new title be slightly altered to reflect the truth. Secondly, I wish to reassess the definition of the word "hack" that has been used by my dear friend and brother Raza Azteca. (He will be more than familiar with the proceeding terminologies, but I wish to outline them for the remainder in our dear community notwithstanding). Today, mainstream usage of the word “hacker” mostly refers to computer criminals, due to the mass media usage of the word since the 1980s. This includes what hacker slang calls “script kiddies,” i.e. people breaking into computers using programs written by others, with very little knowledge about the way they work. This usage has become so predominant that the general public is unaware that different meanings exist. Yet different meanings do exist, and I wish to briefly outline them so that I am not falsely labelled. The origin of the term comes from a community of enthusiast computer programmers and systems designers, originating in the 1960s around the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT's) Tech Model Railroad Club (TMRC) and MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. This community is notable for launching the free software movement. The Request for Comments RFC 1392 amplifies this meaning as " person who delights in having an intimate understanding of the internal workings of a system, computers and computer networks in particular."
I do not have an intimate knowledge or understanding of the workings of any system, network or forum, so this term is unjust.
A second etymology for the term comes from the hobbyist home computing community, focusing on hardware in the late 1970s and on software in the 1980s/1990s. The community included Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Bill Gates and created the personal computing industry.
I am not, nor have I ever been Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak or Bill Gates, thus this label is incorrect.
Finally and most importantly, a third origin for the term is that hackers are people committed to circumvention of computer security. This primarily concerns unauthorized remote computer break-ins via a communication networks such as the Internet (Black hats), but also includes those who debug or fix security problems (White hats), and the morally ambiguous Grey hats. See Hacker (computer security).
I did not hack any network. I did not seek to debug or fix any security problem. I am not morally ambiguous. Therefore, I can not be labelled a hacker by this formula, regardless of the grayscale hue of my falsely adorned hat.
I will admit to accessing another's account by legitimate means of knowing their password. I sought to do this, indeed, to promote myself to the position of administrator on this noble forum, not out of any selfish ambition or misplaced sense of self-pride, but out of gratitude to those who mentored, discipled and administrated this forum, for me, and all of us, at an earlier time. I looked up to them. I respected them. I valued their input into my life. I merely wanted the opportunity to influence others' lives in the same way that mine was.
Therefore, BTC Forum community, I beg of you: please re-instate me to the position of administrator on this most noble of talkshops. I will lead and administer my role responsibly, diligently and at all times, lead for you, both individually and corporately, that we may more fully enjoy this time of resurgence, rebirth, regeneration and revival on the BTC Forum.
Thank you.
Your friend and brother, Oecolampadius (formerly bigfat)

I think the poster in question for responding so quickly to the allegation brought before him and for the elloquant way in which he has put forward his (flawed) arguement.
"Bigfat" seems to struggle not with the charge but with the term used. He has failed to acknowledge the use of the term "hack" to mean in common forum parliance to mean the unauthorised use of anothers account to either post or to use their position for their own advantage. This definition he does fall into, and his motivations while they may have been positive were unauthorised. His ascention to admin was not passed through agreement, or invited. It was done of his own volition. Is this right? Is this just? It also must be mentioned that his first action as admin was to IP ban posters who had done no actions to warrent such sanctions. As to his title, we are all aware that Morris Dancers should be mocked and chased from town to town therefore the title is fitting as for his actions, befits those of the morris dancer, a hanky waving freak! Good posters of the BTC forum I would urge you to vote no and that he should in fact be drowned as a witch as befits one who has broken our rules so flagrently. He has presented facts which are false and has dressed up falsehood like a pig in a tuxedo. DOes the pig look good? Of he course he does, he looks sharp, but he is still a pig!
I thank you Raza Azteca (Formerly Lord of all the monkeys)

You 't use someone else's account even if you know their password. It's the same as 'fraping' on facebook..................drown him!!

He needs to earn our trust....he created havoc when he was a self appointed admin...he must learn a lesson! Thank you for your response, but how am I to earn the trust of the people in a leadership capacity when no such role is open to me, whether by appointment by my peers, or by my own design? At this time, I would like to briefly point out that this conversation would not be happening in the first instance, had the idea of resurrecting this most wonderful of forums not entered my humble mind. I would also like to inquire as to the legal consequences of this vote. Is the poll binding in the sense that the course of action with most allocated votes will be carried on to fruition, as per a true and democratic referendum, or will the polling results merely be used as fact-finding endeavour for the most noble administrators and moderators to thus carry out their will as their authoritative position over this community shall allow, as per a regular poll?

In reference to the above post, techinically you could have resurrected the forum wihtout hacking into someone else's account. That point is invalid!

I would also question the need to be an admin to make up for this "mistake".
If the people speak the admin team will have to act. You better hope they don't vote to drown you kiddo!

People of the BTC universe, he's sunk to a new low (and we haven't even drowned him yet)....
I found this in my message inbox:
"Congratulations on your elevation to the position of Administrator. Using your privileges, you have the right and privilege, as it so happens, to elevate others to the same position. Feel free to do so with anyone you wish, perhaps including but not limited to, your fiancée. All my love xo "
Tut tut, my friend.....I have strategically taken no part in this discussion recently and shall continue to do so. I may have the power but I do not esteem myself to have the authority. Many apologies, but you will have to earn the privilege.
Over and out.

I applaud the brave stance taken by Chicken Lady and her actions confirm her elevation to the post of admin as being sound and just
